Supervised Exercise for Diabetes Management
At Pro Exercise SA, our diabetes exercise class in Adelaide is designed to help people living with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes improve their health, strength, and confidence through structured physical activity. Each session is delivered by an Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP) who understands the unique challenges of managing blood glucose levels, energy, and long-term health outcomes.
Our classes combine cardiovascular training, flexibility, and resistance exercises in a safe, supervised environment. Whether you’re newly diagnosed or looking to better control your blood sugar, our program provides the guidance and accountability you need to stay active and healthy. You can learn more about our broader exercise services on our Exercise Physiology Adelaide page.
How Does Exercise Help Diabetes?
Regular exercise is one of the most effective tools for improving insulin sensitivity and overall metabolic health. Under the supervision of an exercise physiologist, you’ll take part in a structured program designed to:
- Improve blood glucose control and reduce insulin resistance
- Support weight management and encourage fat metabolism
- Promote glucose uptake by working major muscle groups
- Lower blood pressure and enhance cardiovascular function
- Reduce lipid levels for better heart health
- Decrease psychological stress and improve overall wellbeing
- Reduce the long-term burden of living with diabetes
By incorporating both aerobic and resistance-based training, participants experience better endurance, stronger muscles, and improved quality of life.
What to Expect in a Diabetes Exercise Session
Each session is tailored to your abilities and medical background. Your exercise physiologist will guide you through:
- Warm-up and mobility work to prepare joints and muscles
- Cardiovascular training, such as cycling or treadmill walking, at a moderate intensity
- Strength and resistance exercises to build lean muscle and assist glucose absorption
- Cool-down and education to help monitor heart rate, blood glucose, and recovery
Our programs are designed to progress gradually, ensuring every participant gains confidence while working safely within their limits.
