Dr Michael Aird

Dr Michael Aird is an Adelaide trained General Practitioner who has been consulting from our Aldinga Medical Centre since 1987. Dr Aird has special interests in Geriatrics, Nursing Home Care, Asthma and Cardiac Care.

Dr Michael Aird completed his MBBS, graduating at The Adelaide University in 1984. He then completed his Diploma RACOG in 1987. Dr Aird commenced at Flinders Medical Centre as an intern, securing a resident position shortly after.  He was an obstetric resident at Flinders Medical Centre and conducted deliveries at McLaren Vale War Memorial Hospital until 1993.  He took part in the accreditation process at Noarlunga and McLaren Vale hospitals in a GP Medical/Minor Surgical skills capacity.

Dr Aird has been a general practitioner at our Aldinga Medical Centre since 1987. His current focus includes teaching and geriatric care. He commenced supervising registrars and medical students at our Aldinga Medical Centre in 1992 and continues this very important role in furthering the knowledge of our future generation of GPs. His passion for teaching has encouraged and inspired many registrars who have benefited from his vast knowledge.

Dr Sorcha Doyle

Dr Sorcha Doyle is a General Practitioner who consults from our Aldinga Medical Centre. She has special interests in Women’s Health, Paediatrics, Antenatal Care and Chronic Disease Management.

Dr Sorcha Doyle was born in Dublin, Ireland and spent her early childhood there before moving to the UK.  She graduated from The University of Liverpool and after spending four years working in local hospitals, decided on a General Practice career.  After working for nine years as a GP in Anfield, Liverpool she moved to County Cork in Ireland and spent a further five years working in General Practice there.

In 2012 she moved to Australia permanently to become part of the medical team at our Aldinga Medical Centre.

She has special interests in Women’s Health, Paediatrics, Antenatal Care and Chronic Disease Management.

Dr Janet Thornley

Dr Janet Thornley is an Adelaide General Practitioner who has been practicing from our Aldinga Medical Centre for over 15 years. She has special interests in Paediatrics, Integrative Medicine, Women’s Health, Antenatal Care and Acupuncture.

Dr Janet Thornley graduated with her MBBS at The University of Adelaide in 1996. Subsequently, she worked at Queen Elizabeth Hospital followed by the Women’s and Children’s Hospital where she obtained a Diploma in Child Health and a Certificate in Women’s Health.

Dr Thornley commenced working in general practice at Moonta on the picturesque Yorke Peninsula for a period of two years, followed by a further five years consulting in the southern suburbs of Adelaide. She started at our Aldinga Medical Centre where she has been caring for her patients since 2005.

She has special interests in Paediatrics, Integrative Medicine, Women’s Health, Antenatal Care and Acupuncture. She has a personal special interest in sailing and running.

Dr Elias Salagaras

Dr Elias Salagaras is an Adelaide General Practitioner consulting from our Aldinga Medical Centre. Dr Elias is interested in all aspects of General Medicine.

Dr Elias graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (University of Adelaide) in 2017 and received Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practice (FRACGP) in 2022.

Dr Elias Salagaras has worked in various hospitals and clinics across Australia, in both urban and rural settings. He has worked across a broad spread of specialties, including Paediatric Medicine.

Dr Elias is interested in all aspects of general practice, and especially enjoys working with both children and elderly patients. He is particularly interested in optimising care of longstanding conditions.

In his spare time Dr Elias is a keen coffee maker and gardener.

Dr Grant Baker

Dr Grant Baker is an Adelaide GP consulting from our Aldinga Medical Centre with an interest in skin, musculoskeletal and sports medicine.

Dr Baker graduated from medical school at the University of Adelaide in 1993.

He undertook his intern year at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital where he also worked in the Emergency Department after undertaking some anaesthetics training in the United Kingdom. Dr Baker completed his Fellowship in General Practice in 1999.

He also has a Diploma in Obstetrics, a Graduate Diploma in Advanced Rural Skills (anaesthetics) and a Graduate Certificate in Clinical Education. He is a Clinical Lecturer with the Flinders University and Manager of Clinical Simulation for Sturt Fleurieu General Practice Education and Training. He is currently chair of the Riverland Division of General Practice and Board member of the Country South SA Medicare Local.

Dr Baker spent 15 years as a rural GP in the Riverland based in Barmera. Being a qualified tennis coach who has represented Australia at junior level he has always had an interest in Sports Medicine. He has a young family who are heavily involved in Basketball, Football and Tennis. When he is not busy running the children around he enjoys a hit of golf.

Dr Baker’s interests include Sports Medicine, Musculoskeletal Assessment and Injuries as well as minor procedures including skin lesion removals, in grown toenail surgery and skin cancer assessment.

Dr Christine Osborne

Dr Christine Osborne is an Adelaide General Practitioner who practices from our medical centre in Aldinga. She has special interests in Paediatrics and Women’s Health.

Dr Christine Osborne graduated from Flinders University with her Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine in 2019. She has also completed a Certificate in the Sydney Child Health Program which is a comprehensive program in paediatric medicine covering 30 subspecialty areas from neonate to adolescents.

Dr Osborne has prior work experience at Flinders Medical Centre (Acute Medical, Cardiothoracic Surgery and Emergency Medicine), Margaret Tobin Centre – Psychiatry, Noarlunga Hospital – Emergency Medicine, Women’s and Children’s Hospital  (Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatric Surgery and Urology, and Paediatric Emergency Medicine).

She has special interests in Paediatrics and Women’s Health, currently completing her Certificate in Women’s Health through RANZCOG to be able to provide patients with shared antenatal care.

Outside of work, Dr Osborne loves travelling, baking and exploring local wonders with her young family. Although she grew up in Adelaide, Dr Osborne was born in the Philippines and is able to speak Tagalog. She is a strong advocate for embracing cultural diversity around health care.

Dr Jessica Mashado

Dr Jessica Mashado is an Adelaide GP consulting from our Aldinga Medical Centre with particular interest in paediatrics and women’s health.

Dr Mashado graduated from the University of Adelaide in 2019 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. During this time she undertook elective placements in rural Africa and Samoa, also completing a rural year in Whyalla.

Following this, she has worked at a number of hospitals around South Australia including the Emergency Department at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, Surgical team at Port Augusta Hospital and spent some time working in cancer services in Darwin. Whilst working at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Adelaide she gained a great deal of experience in Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Additionally, Dr Jessica has completed a Certificate in Women’s health and is certified for Implanon insertion. She is also completing a Graduate Diploma in Child Health.

Jessica loves to travel and dreams of one day visiting Antarctica.

Dr Czenya Cavouras graduated from Flinders University in 2019 with a Bachelor of Health Science, Master of Physiotherapy and Doctor of Medicine. She is currently completing the RANZCOG Certificate of Women’s Health and the Sydney Child Health Program.

Dr Cavouras has prior work experience at Flinders Medical Centre, Noarlunga Hospital, and the Women’s and Children’s Hospital. She has special interests in Paediatrics, Women’s Health, and Sports Medicine.

Outside of work you will find Dr Cavouras playing football, running, and spending as much time at the beach as possible. She also has a young daughter who keeps her busy outside of work.

Dr Sarah Johnson

Dr Sarah Johnson is a trained General Practitioner specialising in skin cancer medicine and minor procedures.

Dr Sarah Johnson completed her undergraduate studies in medical imaging. She completed her doctor of medicine studies in 2014 at Flinders University. Following her graduation she spent six years touring Australia and working in various surgical roles. She made the decision to pursue a career in General Practice with a view to working predominantly in skin cancer medicine. She worked at several practices during the course of her training including Aldinga Medical Centre. She completed GP training in 2023 and has been upskilling with several GPs who specialise in skin cancer medicine and is also happy to manage basic dermatological conditions. She is nearing completion of an advanced certificate of skin cancer medicine from the Australasian collage of dermatology and planning further study in the area of skin cancer. She has also developed advanced skills in ultrasound guided removal of deep Implanon. Dr Sarah Johnson currently consults at more than one location, she is happy to see patients for skin checks and take referrals for skin cancer excisions, basic surgical procedures, iron infusions, implanon insertion and removal and ultrasound guided procedures. She is especially interested in managing skin cancers on the face. She is also happy to offer cosmetic removal of benign skin lesions. Currently she doesn’t offer consultations for mainstream general practice.

Outside of work she enjoys embroidery and has won prizes from the Royal Adelaide Show, she loves travel and often travels to learn new embroidery techniques.

    Payment Terms

    A $5.50 ‘Practice Administration Levy’ will be applied to all privately billed consultations.
    We are not a bulk-billing medical practice and require full payment of consultation fees at the time of appointment. Electronic rebates can be claimed on the same day.

    Children 15 & under and DVA patients will be direct billed.

    Concession Card Holders will be required to pay in full at a reduced rate at the time of consultation. Electronic rebates can be claimed on the same day.

    GP Management Plans, Health Assessments (45-49 health checks & over 75’s)  & Government Funded Vaccinations will be direct billed.

    Failure to keep appointments: A standard consult fee will be charged for non-attendance.

    Other fees may be incurred as below:
    • A $20 non-rebatable fee applies for certain eye procedures.
    • An out of pocket fee applies for dressings and wound management.
    • An out of pocket fee applies for procedures such as suturing and excisions
    • For details of other item numbers, please ask at reception.
    • Compensation accounts:

    This practice does not issue accounts for patients involved in third party/worker’s compensation cases. Full payment is required at the time of consult. Patients who are covered under Worker’s Compensation or Motor Vehicle Accident Insurance are reminded that THEY are responsible for ALL accounts incurred.
