Peter Esselbach is an Adelaide Trained Sports Physiotherapist with additional post-graduate training in ultrasound guided musculo-skeletal interventions.
Peter Esselbach has worked as a Sonographer for over 30 years. He graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 2002 and has been working in private physiotherapy practice since. Peter has developed a unique and specialised interest in combining his work as a sonographer with his work as a physiotherapist. To this capacity, Peter is able to effectively assess complex musculo-skeletal injuries and where necessary, apply interventional therapy utilising options such as Cortisone Injections and PRP.
At Pro Health Care Mitcham, Peter has developed a Musculo-Skeletal clinic every Tuesday morning which sees him performing a range of interventional therapies in collaboration with our doctors that are also trained in performing Cortisone and PRP Injections.
In additional to interventional treatment, Peter provides a diverse range of conventional physiotherapy techniques including Pilates, Sports Injury Assessment, Myofascial Taping and Dry Needling / Acupuncture.
In the words of Peter;
‘I use a fusion of unique skills in Ultrasound (Sonography) and Physiotherapy to assess and rehabilitate injuries using real time ultrasound. This goes beyond normal musculoskeletal examination as tissues and pathology can be visualised and assessed using the Real Time Ultrasound. When clinically directed , ultrasound can be used to perform interventional techniques such as corticosteroid injections, aspirations or platelet-rich-plasma injections.’
‘I have a particular interest in sports-related injuries having worked at Wakefield Sports Clinic and Adelaide Crows Sports Medicine Clinic.’
