What are Hamstring Injuries?
The hamstrings are a group of muscles at the back of the thigh which help bend the knee and extend (straighten) the hip. They are susceptible to tears and strains.
Hamstring injuries are most common in sports which require a high degree of speed, power and agility such as AFL, basketball, soccer and tennis. Symptoms are usually felt in the back of the thigh and may come on following a kick, or during a run or sprint.
