Pathology

Adductor muscles strains are a common injury in sports which involve sudden changes of direction. It is a common injury in sports which require a sudden change in direction during running or sprinting (such as AFL, soccer, Rugby). Symptoms are usually on the inner thigh and may be felt into the groin or further down the leg.

Classification/Assessment

Musculoskeletal and Sports Physiotherapists can thoroughly assess and diagnose the extent of the injury and provide appropriate advice regarding management of your Adductor injury. Sports Physiotherapists are also highly trained in biomechanical analysis and identifying the contributing factors to prevent re-injury.

Treatment

Immediate management of any soft tissue injury is to RICE (rest, ice, compression, elevation) for the following 48-72 hours to reduce the bleeding and damage.
